I read the reviews before I listened to the recording and you guys weren't joking. I'm not saying that Elvin Bishop is a poor musician, but as posters have stated below he butchered the heck out of Katie Mae --> NFA.

I believe the snippet of Lovelight is untouched by Mr. Bishop though.

Subject: That jackass ruins the last 3 songs
A real pity as the sound quality is great and the band is hot. No idea why security didn't kick him out.

Subject: Great show! Great venue!
Ah yes small theatre in the round owned by the Travelodge hotel back then. Very intimate seating arrangement on folding chairs in the lower sections.

Still have my ticket from this show.
Does anybody else remeber Paul Michael Cantrell (aka Rathead) jumping up on stage and playing harmonica during Pigpen's acoustic set?
Pigpen didn't know what to make of it but they jammed together and he seemed to enjoy it cause he/they let him stay and play. The rest of the band came back and in a short time the majority of the audience end up on the very small stage for the rest of the night!

Subject: First Review: Unknown singer ruins it
I've been listening in chronological order to every SBD recording. I'm not a big fan of the AUD so I've skipped the handful of those. This recording obviously is great up until the unknown singer takes the stage and finishes out the show. It actually was so bad, I had to stop listening to it and move on to the next show. But it finally made me sign up for Archive.org just to be able to write reviews now. Overall good show with a great Black Peter. Too bad Cold Rain & Snow was cut.

Subject: Elvin Bishop on harp too?
I knew right away that wasn't Pig playin' the harp during lovelight- wasn't bloozy enough. Sure enough you continue to hear the harp while Pig sings - so it makes me wonder, who was playin' it? Possibly Bishops harmonica player Paul Butterfield? Either way - hot Lovelight, great show- excellent sound. Easily a 5 star on quality.

Subject: The sound on this one is amazing,
and the show is definitely an "on" night of some proportion. But whatever that guy's name is, he is not welcome on the ears, and if I'd been workin' there I'd have hooked him out to the alley and had a few quiet words about not stepping on the band's song before letting him back in. What an incredible drag! Dude, shut UP!!!

Subject: Unknown singer
after listening to the matrix shows from oct 68 and the fillmore june 69 shows, My guess is the unknown singer must be Elvin Bishop
